Islamic Falsafa

The translation movement (Bayt al-Ḥikma, Baghdad, c. 830) absorbed Greek philosophy wholesale and then EXTENDED it. Al-Kindī, Al-Fārābī, Avicenna, Averroes didn't merely preserve Aristotle — they solved problems he left open. Avicenna's Flying Man thought experiment IS the cogito, 600 years before Descartes. Averroes' commentaries were so authoritative that Latin Scholastics called him simply 'The Commentator.' The entire project was buried by Eurocentrism — Western philosophy textbooks still jump from 'Greece' to 'Descartes' as if 800 years didn't happen.
