Darwinian Evolutionary Biology

From Erasmus Darwin's single living filament (1794) through Lamarck, Lyell's deep time, Charles Darwin's natural selection (1859), Weismann's germ-line barrier (1880s), and the Modern Synthesis, to Dawkins's gene's-eye view (1976).

The stream's founding trade, in the Renaissance 3.0 reading: Charles bought a mechanism by selling the organism's participation in its own transformation. Nothing needs to want anything for natural selection to work, and that is precisely its power. But a trade is not a refutation.

Three things went out of the account together and are separately returning: the internal driver, development, and the environment's memory.

Also the stream where the WORD went wrong. Bonnet gave biology evolution in 1762 meaning preformation. Lyell applied it to species in 1832. Spencer popularised it in 1852 and imported the progress it has never shed. Charles avoided it, using descent with modification, until 1871.
